t3rn’s 2024 Year in Review
Hello and GM! It’s been an incredible year for t3rn, and I’m super excited to walk you through our major milestones, product updates, and community growth. From finally launching our much-anticipated testnet to hitting new engagement records, 2024 was nothing short of amazing. Let’s dive in!
1. Testnet Launch & Network Statistics
This was the year we officially launched our testnet, and the reception blew us away. We’re seeing huge activity (way beyond our initial expectations) which is both exciting and challenging. The network is under heavy stress testing, and while this does mean some of you are running into issues, the overall progress has been phenomenal. We’re fixing bugs and refining the system, with an eye toward moving to mainnet in 2025.
Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve seen in 2024:
- 18,125,085 orders submitted
- 8,468,763 orders executed
- $4,044,777,132.97 in total volume
- 3,167,638 attested orders
- Best Executor earning about $14,012.77 per month
Execution coverage has fluctuated (sometimes hitting around 80–90%) though we’re still stabilizing the network. We appreciate everyone’s patience while we work through these kinks.
We’ve also seen strong traction with BRN:
- 62,203 accounts opened
- 10,624,520.40 in BRN delivered
This level of interest is motivating us to push even harder to resolve issues and fortify t3rn’s infrastructure for the big move to mainnet.
2. Fixes, Improvements & Features
After launch, our dev team jumped straight into improving stability and user experience based on community feedback:
- Improved Fast Writer Stability to reduce “replacement underpriced” errors.
- Resolved Event Listener Issues so dummy order IDs are handled properly.
We’ve also rolled out enhancements like:
- Logging upgrades
- Redis-based tracking for pending orders
- Gas usage monitoring
- Better Redshift queries for faster processing
And if that’s not enough, we introduced key features like Gas Price Thresholding (halts bidding if L3 gas is too high), Batch Executor Support, Parallel Segment Finality, and Redshift Integration, all designed to handle the heavy demand we’re seeing on testnet.
3. New Features & Upcoming Deployments
Despite the ongoing testnet stress testing, we’re still preparing more advanced functionalities:
- Seamless Escrow Off-Chain Integration: Next-gen liquidity solutions with secure off-chain fund handling.
- Batch Executions by Asset and Target: Group transactions to cut costs and improve throughput.
- Redis-Powered Submission Verification: Quick and robust processing for orders.
- Broken Orders Processor: Automatic identification and resolution of problematic orders.
- Gas Statistics Dashboard: Real-time analytics to help users plan cost-efficient transactions.
We’re also continuing to refine our deployments (latest is v4.126.0), making sure that each new feature integrates smoothly into the testnet environment as we aim for mainnet readiness.
4. Bridge UI: A Seamless Cross-Chain Experience
One of the big highlights this year was releasing our Bridge UI alongside the Executor GUI. Built for simplicity, the Bridge UI empowers users to:
- Swap assets easily across multiple chains.
- Check Stats in real time, from total transactions to individual network metrics.
- Explore Order Histories and behind-the-scenes data to see the network in action.
Our main goal is to remove complexity and allow users to harness the full power of cross-chain interoperability without a steep learning curve.
5. Executor: The Backbone of t3rn
Our executors have been on fire, going from 0 to over 5,000 participants in a matter of months:
- 8 million+ orders processed.
- $4+ billion in transaction volume.
This remarkable growth confirms t3rn’s potential and the community’s enthusiasm. To support this momentum, we gave the Executor GUI a sleek revamp with improved user experience and streamlined workflows, making it easier to place bids, claim rewards, and monitor orders. We’re committed to refining it even further as we gather feedback from all these new executors in the testnet.
6. Community Highlights & Milestones
Unprecedented Growth Across Channels
- Bridge UI: 94,400 unique visitors, driving $3.7B+ in transaction volume.
- X (Twitter): Grew 500%, from 16k to 96k followers, crossing 1M+ impressions.
- Discord: From 11k to 66k members (a 500% jump!).
- Telegram: From 3k to 21k members (up 600%).
- Newsletter: +40%, now over 21k subscribers.
We kept everyone engaged through big campaigns like Intract, Galxe, and the BRN Airdrop, and by showing up at some key blockchain events (shoutout to ETH Denver, Polkadot Decoded, and ETH Warsaw!).
7. Community Spotlight: X, Discord, and Beyond
X (Twitter) Engagement
Our X community has been on fire throughout 2024, especially around the Intract, and Galxe Campaign, UI Launch, and BRN Airdrop. Some highlights:
- 50k followers added in September alone.
- Ended the year past 80k followers.
- 1M+ impressions throughout the year.
We’re loving the ongoing conversations with industry frens, which has boosted our visibility and helped more people discover t3rn.
Discord Transformation
Discord grew from 11,000 to 66,000+ members in record time, fueled by:
- Launch hype around testnet, Executors, and Bridge UI.
- High-impact social pushes on Galxe and Intract.
- The Community MVP Initiative to celebrate top contributors.
We also reorganized our channels to better serve both newcomers and power users. It’s now a lively, supportive environment where people can find answers and connect with fellow t3rners.
Newsletter: “Multichain Matters”
Maciej’s (t3rn Founder) newsletter has been a massive hit, growing from 15.3k to 20.2k subscribers. It’s an awesome way for us to share progress updates, deep dives, and behind the scenes content. If you’re not subscribed yet, now’s the time!
8. HR, OPS & Finance: Wrapping Up 2024
Let’s talk about what went on behind the scenes:
- Team Restructuring: We reduced our headcount from 17 to 12 for a leaner, more sustainable approach. It was tough but ultimately the right move to set us up for long-term success.
- Financial Operations Cleanup & New Partnerships: We joined forces with Harris & Trotter (accountancy) and TRES Finance (treasury and crypto operations) for more transparency and efficiency.
Our retention rates remain strong, showing that we’re all-in on t3rn’s mission and future.
Looking to 2025 and Beyond
Overall, 2024 has been an incredible ride. Launching the testnet was a massive milestone, and even though we’ve hit a few bumps in the road, the community response has been beyond anything we expected. We’re working hard to resolve issues, improve stability, and make t3rn even stronger as we prepare for mainnet.
Big thanks to everyone for your support and patience, you’ve been instrumental in pushing t3rn forward. Stick around, because 2025 is shaping up to be a big one!
